How to Increase Your Vertical Jump

Learning how to increase vertical is something that many people feel is impossible for them. But I am here to tell you that you increase your vertical jump and I will tell you how.

You first have to realize that training like you have never trained before is only way to get results you have never gotten before.

With that in mind, you have to realize that continuing to do the same workouts or drill that you have been doing are only going to give you the same results that you have gotten until now.

It's time to think outside the box and train like the people that ARE jumping as high as you want to jump. I once heard the winner of the dunk contest (Nate Robinson) say that he doesn't really train to be able to jump that high. This is a lie! He trains with his team doing plyometrics and leg workouts all the time. He doesn't just happen to be strong and fast, he trained hard to get there. Anyone that benches almost twice their body weight has to train to do so. He just doesn't see it as training because everyone around him is also training that hard and he gets paid to do it.

Increase Vertical

To increase your vertical you have to start somewhere and thats okay.  If you are only jumping at a 12 inch vertical leap you are totally fine.  You can expect to double that and you do it quickly if you train the right way.

What is better to do to jump higher run bleachers, squat or jump rope?  The answer is that squatting would be the best exercise of the 3 even though it's not a plyometric workout, it will build leg strength.  Jumping rope is not recommended because it develops slow twitch muscle and you want fast twitch muscle fibers.  Running stairs is good but it will also begin to develop slow twitch muscles because you will be running for over 3 minutes at a time.

You want to focus on plyometric exercises like box jumps and you have to keep your reps low and the difficulty level high in order to get great results from a plyometric workout.
